Mets give MLB deal to player who has never reached majors

The Mets announced on Monday that they have signed right-hander Justin Hagenman to a major league deal.
According to Will Sammon of The Athletic, it is a split contract that’ll pay him $850,000 in the majors and $225,000 in the minors.
Hagenman, 28, elected minor league free agency earlier this month. In joining the Mets, he cracks his first major league roster.
Hagenman was drafted by the Dodgers in 2018 and was shipped to the Red Sox in 2023 as part of the trade that sent Kiké Hernandez back to Los Angles.
In 28 appearances (15 starts) for Boston’s Triple-A affiliate last year, Hagenman put up a 4.91 ERA with 98 strikeouts and 31 walks over 90 innings of work.
Hagenman can provide some depth for a Mets pitching staff that really thinned out after Sean Manaea, Jose Quintana and Luis Severino all became free agents after the season.
